In short
The School Bus Tracker is built so that families know their child got on and got off, the school knows who was on every bus, and something going wrong is noticed early rather than discovered when a parent calls.
Every boarding and drop-off confirmed
The driver records each child getting on and off, and the family is told as it happens. A printable bus card with the child's photo and a code lets the driver scan each child on.
Two adults, both on record
Each bus records its driver and, where there is one, its attendant. Families see both on their child's screen.
The right driver, and only then
Only the driver assigned to a run can start or end it, and the bus's location is shared only while a run is under way.
A way to reach the family
Each parent's phone number is the one the driver rings if their child is not at the stop, and families without a smartphone are told by email.
Privacy for every child
Families see only their own children. Only their own child's stop is named; other children's stops are never shown.
What happens if...
What if the driver's phone loses signal?
The family's screen says it is showing the last known position, rather than pretending the bus has stopped. It carries on live as soon as the phone is back.
What if the driver does not start the run?
With no run there is no tracking, so the school is told when a run is 15 minutes past its time and has not started.
What if a child is not at the stop?
The driver can ring the phone number the parent gave, which is shown in the family's account as the number the driver rings.
What if the bus is running late?
Families see how late it is running and how many stops away it is, and are told when it comes within the distance they chose.
What if the school is closed?
Closed days are added in advance, so no bus is booked and families see that there will be no bus.
What if a child is off sick?
The parent marks the day as not riding. The child is not put on the bus, the driver does not wait, and the day is not charged for.
