The School Bus Tracker tracks a school bus live using the driver's phone. While a run is under way, families see the bus on a map, how many stops away it is, roughly how many minutes until it reaches their stop, and whether it is running late. Schools see every bus on the road at once.
What a parent sees
The family's screen opens on a list of the run's stops in the order the bus visits them, with the bus drawn between the stop it has left and the one it is heading for. Each stop shows the minute it was reached or the minute it is due. A map view is one tap away, and the family's choice is remembered.

What a school sees
A live tracking screen shows every bus that is on the road, and today's runs are listed with what has happened on each. A run that should have started and has not is flagged, because no run means no tracking and no notifications for the families on it.
No hardware in the bus
The location comes from the driver app on an ordinary Android phone or iPhone. There is no box to fit, no SIM card to manage and no installer to book. Tracking starts when the driver starts the run and stops when they end it, so a bus is never tracked off duty.

How accurate is live school bus tracking?
The bus position comes from the GPS in the driver's phone and is updated continuously while a run is under way. It is as accurate as the phone's own location, which outdoors is usually within a few metres.
Can parents see the bus when it is not on a school run?
No. Tracking runs only between the driver starting a run and ending it, and a family only ever sees the run their own child is on.
